One thing we love about being destination wedding photographers is that our couples and their families have all made an extraordinary effort to travel and be together for the big day. This means that the homes or resorts they’re staying in are bursting with energy from the entire group. Parents, grandparents, siblings, and life-long friends, all in the same house means we get to spend all of our time focused on the relationships and non-stop action.
Alicia and Werner’s destination wedding was a decade long in the making. Serendipity brought them together as teenagers on vacation in the Dominican Republic. Alicia is from the US and Werner hails from Scotland. After two years of growing their relationship via Skype, they met again in the Dominican. For the past eight years, they’ve gone back and forth, meeting each other in the US and Scotland spending months apart. What an amazing test of their love!
Considering their love started on a beach in the Caribbean, a beach wedding was a perfect fit for their storybook start to a beautiful marriage. Alicia and Werner hosted their nearest and dearest at the Opulent Pearl beach house in Panama City Beach Florida. Considering this home sleeps 32 people, nearly their entire guest list could fit! Directly on the Gulf of Mexico, their barefoot beach ceremony was just steps away and their reception under the stars took place on the deck. It was an emotional event for everyone involved and that definitely came through in these images. We are so happy for them and their families and want to welcome Werner to our beautiful country as he starts forever with Alicia.
